TRAVEL
How do registrations work?
The registration methods are indicated on the dedicated page of the website or in online advertisements.
Generally, the most common way to register is by filling out and submitting the automatic form published on the ‘registration’ page of each trip.
What does the automatic form contain?
The automatic form contains personal identification data and collects choices made among the available options (hotel resident / non-resident, one milonga night / all milonga nights, …)
What are the entry rules for those submitting a registration request?
The entry method to a trip, indicated on the dedicated page of the website or in online advertisements, can be—for example—by invitation, by invitation and date of registration request submission, or simply by date of registration request submission.
What does ‘protection of numerical parity’ mean?
Protection of numerical parity means that there isn’t an absolute one-to-one balance between men and women in the room but a ‘protected’ parity. In the sense that – aware that women can’t dance all tandas (high heels don’t allow it!) – a steady flow of dancing on the floor is ensured by admitting a very small group of single women beyond the numerical parity. The percentage of additional single women remains constant. Therefore, the number of single women will vary with the total number of participants: more couples, more single women.
How does the waiting list work?
The ‘waiting list’ is the list where registration requests exceeding the maximum number of participants allowed, or exceeding the protected male/female parity (see What does ‘protection of numerical parity’ mean?), are collected in order of date.
Based on this list, when cancellations or withdrawals occur, single participants or couples are admitted.
The ‘single women waiting list’ is a list used to admit single women following:
- cancellation or withdrawal of other single women;
- entry of single men with whom, numerically, they can form a couple.
If I register, pay, and then need to cancel, what happens?
The organization tends to refund the amount paid, but this is not always possible. It all depends on when the cancellation is made. Therefore, for each trip, the dedicated website page lists all cases of penalties, from immediate withdrawal – right after payment – up to ‘no show’.
EVENTS
Party, milonga…
How does registration work?
Registration methods are indicated for each event, on the dedicated page of the website or in Facebook advertisements both in general containers (group ‘i Luoghi di Tango di Enza Stagnini’, page ‘Luoghi di Tango curated by Enza Stagnini’) and dedicated ones (for each event you will find the dedicated group and the event).
Depending on the type of event, the registration method may vary from an automatic form to be filled out to a simple SMS.
In any case, for every event all newsletter subscribers receive the event advertisement well in advance. (If you want to stay informed, you can subscribe to the newsletter by clicking here.)
What are the entry rules for those submitting a registration request?
The entry method for an event, indicated on the dedicated page on the website or in Facebook ads, can be—for example—“by invitation”, “by invitation and by date of registration request” (form/SMS), or simply by date of registration request (form/SMS).
Depending on the type of event, the organization decides which method is most appropriate for the success of the event.
What does ‘protection of numerical parity’ mean?
Protection of numerical parity – applied to all events except milongas – means that there isn’t an absolute one-to-one balance between men and women in the room but a ‘protected’ parity. In the sense that – aware that women cannot dance all the tandas (high heels don’t allow it!) – a steady flow of dancing on the floor is ensured by admitting a very small odd group of single women, i.e. beyond absolute numerical parity. The percentage of extra single women is constant (about 5% with fewer than 100 participants; 10% with more than 100 participants). Thus, the number of single women varies with the total number of participants: more couples, more single women.
How does the waiting list work?
The ‘waiting list’ is the list where registration requests from singles and couples exceeding the maximum number of participants allowed (milonga), or exceeding the protected male/female parity (valid for any other event), are collected in order of date.
Based on this list, following cancellations or withdrawals, singles or couples are admitted.
The ‘waiting list for singles’ serves to admit single participants following:
- cancellation or withdrawal of singles of the same gender;
- entry of singles with whom, numerically, to form a mixed-gender couple.
Encuentros
How does registration work?
The Registration Rules for the Encuentros follow 6 precise steps to protect both the well-being of attending guests (invitation, dancing, dance floor, dinners, lunches, sharing…) and the smooth running of the event.
- PRE-REGISTRATION: 30 spots (for events with fewer than 100 participants) or 50 spots (for events with more than 100 participants) for each edition are dedicated to guests of the previous edition (singles and couples) who will receive the PRE-REGISTRATION NEWSLETTER two/three weeks before the start date of the new edition’s registration. There is no waiting list in this phase: those not confirmed (from 31st/51st onward) can send a new request when the new edition registrations open.
- Within two/three weeks after pre-registrations, REGISTRATIONS open via an automatic form active on the site https://www.luoghiditango.net. Well in advance, all contacts in the mailing list receive the REGISTRATION OPENING newsletter (please check spam!).
Those wanting to join the mailing list can do so from the “Newsletter” section on this site or by clicking here. The registration start date is also published on Facebook, in the group dedicated to the specific encuentro and in the two general Luoghi di Tango containers (page and group). - REGISTRATION REQUESTS can be sent by COUPLES and SINGLES. The latter will be numerically paired to ensure female/male parity. Single women will be admitted in excess with a percentage depending on the number of registrants (about 5% with fewer than 100 participants; 10% with more than 100 participants).
Couple: if one member of a couple withdraws, the couple’s registration is canceled with a full refund – for both – of any registration bank transfer, provided the withdrawal is communicated within the cancellation policy terms.
The other party, now single, must send a new registration request as a single, thus repeating the whole procedure.
If the withdrawal occurs outside the refund terms, the organization tries to arrange a replacement, i.e., it consults the waiting list for that date for interested participants. - Upon registration, for each submitted request the automatic form replies with an automatic newsletter confirming the correct submission. The confirmation newsletter lists the selected options as a reminder for possible next registration steps. So watch out, don’t delete it!
Subsequently – within three weeks – all will receive a personal newsletter: ‘Participation Confirmation’ (with bank details, payment timing that completes the registration, refund policies in case of withdrawal, …) or ‘Waiting List’ newsletter. - The WAITING LIST (singles and couples) is then used to fill spots after cancellations of singles and couples.
- In case of WITHDRAWAL, refunds will be made according to the timing indicated in both the automatic Registration Request form and the ‘Participation Confirmation’ newsletter.
SCHOOL
How is an annual course structured?
An annual course is divided into three trimesters. Each trimester consists of ten lessons (1h 15’). The fees include both the package of 10 lessons and single lessons. The registration fee is annual. The Acsi-Faitango membership card is mandatory. Classes are limited to a maximum of 15 couples. All lessons are personally taught by Maestro Osvaldo Roldàn and an assistant. In addition to the scheduled courses published before each trimester, the school offers workshops to deepen topics covered during lessons (musicality, technique for men/women, couple technique, interpretation) or seminars on the history of tango, orchestras, singers, etc.
Are registrations for couples or singles?
Registrations are for couples. Couples can already be formed or created either at the beginning of the year during introduction meetings or throughout the year. Just contact us to check the waiting list for singles. If study levels match, it will be possible to have a single trial lesson to get to know each other and then possibly register as a couple for the course recommended by the maestro.
What is the Course Presentation and what is it for?
The Course Presentation is a free and open meeting for singles and couples held at the start of the school year, before lessons begin. During this meeting, the maestro meets the new students, presents the year’s program, explaining the structure of a typical lesson and the characteristics of his teaching method. Also, single students get to meet each other and test the compatibility of couples to be enrolled in the course. All singles who do not manage to form a couple but are interested in enrolling will leave their names for future inclusion, possible if during the year a new single appears (see Are registrations for couples or singles?). Finally, all couples have a reasonable amount of free dance time, so the maestro can guide each one to the most suitable class, identified based on homogeneous study level and compatible with available spots (see What happens if a student from the previous year remains single?).
What happens if a student from the previous year remains single?
Every student enrolled who remains single at the end of the year, to re-enroll for the following year participates in the Course Presentation, and – if forming a new couple – has priority in registering for the new year’s course.
If I remain single, can I register with another partner?
Every student enrolled who remains single during the year can present a new partner to the maestro and evaluate together if the new couple is compatible with the course level to continue attending the same one or be directed to a higher or lower level course. Every student who remains single at the end of the year participates in the Course Presentation and – if forming a new couple – has priority for registration the following year.
How do I register during the year?
To register during the year just contact us (email, phone, SMS, WhatsApp). If you are single, we will tell you if – based on the waiting list – there are possibilities for partners, and we will notify you – based on declared years of study – if there are available spots in the class of the corresponding level so you can try a single lesson and then possibly register. If you are a couple, we will notify you – based on declared years of study – if there are available spots in the class of the corresponding level so you can try a single lesson and then possibly register.
If I miss a lesson, can I make it up?
Yes, if you miss a lesson you can recover it within the same trimester, only once and at a lower level. If you are not sure about your attendance, after enrolling you can participate by paying for single lessons each time.
If my partner is absent, can I replace them?
If your partner is absent, they can be replaced by notifying about the substitution. The replacement can be with school students – in which case the lesson for the substitute is free – or with an external partner – in which case the lesson for the substitute is paid as a single lesson. The absent partner can then recover the lesson (see If I miss a lesson, can I make it up?).
