Coming to Florence in May!?
Another Encuentro Milonguero in one of the most beautiful cities in the world, Firenze will host (UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982) the seventh edition of SUR encuentro milonguero de septiembre.
Another city of art, another encuentro defined by friends and embraces, joy and profound emotions, milonguera energy and superb music: the Tango we adore, captured in one entire weekend. Such pure beauty!
The event
What about Florence without being repetitive? Perhaps that Florence was built on the site of an Etruscan settlement and and the later ancient Roman colony of Florentia (founded in 59 BC).
Beyond that, the world knows that Florence is the symbol of Rinascimento.
Its historic centre (UNESCO-heritage, 1982) in the city walls, “…can be perceived as a unique social and urban achievement, the result of persistent and long-lasting creativity, … the fruit of continuous creation over more than six centuries. In addition to its museums (the Archaeological Museum, Uffizi, Bargello, Pitti, Galleria dell’Accademia), the greatest concentration of universally renowned works of art in the world is found here – the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore, the Baptistery and the Campanile of Giotto, Piazza della Signoria dominated by Palazzo Vecchio and the Palazzo Uffizi, San Lorenzo, Santa Maria Novella, Santa Croce and the Pazzi chapel, Santo Spirito, San Miniato, and the Convent of San Marco which houses paintings of Fra Angelico.
Since the Quattrocento, Florence has exerted a predominant influence on the development of architecture and the monumental arts – first in Italy, and throughout Europe: the artistic principles of the Renaissance were defined there from the beginning of the 15th century by Brunelleschi, Donatello and Masaccio. It was in the Florentine milieu that two universal geniuses of the arts – Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo – were formed and asserted.”
The Encuentro
This year for SUR, we have chosen a truly special location!
We will be guests of Renny Club: a Florentine institution and a landmark in Tuscany for live music lovers and vintage atmosphere enthusiasts.
The retro decor of the three rooms—the Main Hall for milongas, The Factory, and The Red Room for relaxation and socializing—along with the bar in the Main Hall, will provide the perfect backdrop not only for dancing but also for our moments of connection.
But there’s more!
We will also have a comfortable outdoor Dehor, offering a breath of fresh air in total serenity, far from the city traffic of the main road.
Our program features 6 milongas (5 from Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, plus the After Party on Sunday evening). In just three days, we’ll dance for 26 hours—long live Tango!

You know how much we value the spirit of togetherness!
To celebrate the sociability that only good food can create, we have included a Sunday Brunch in your Pass Baile.
Moreover, we haven’t forgotten the other social moments of the weekend: if you love the idea of sharing good food with friends alongside your embraces, you can choose to add lunches and dinners to your Pass.
The Bar
During the Milonga, an American Bar will be available for drinks and refreshments (direct payment). The menu includes wines, cocktails, soft drinks, coffee, and teas, along with a variety of sweet and salty snacks to enjoy between dances
The Table
Always Italian cuisine and always with friends, all gathered around a good table and -if you like- with a fine glass of wine!
The Sunday Brunch Buffet is already included in your Pass Baile.
For options not included in the Pass Baile, such as the Saturday Brunch Buffet and Dinners (from Friday to Sunday), you can choose your preferred meals directly through the registration form.
Please note: booking lunches and dinners is not mandatory to participate in SUR.

Traditional Milonga
- Set-up: chairs and tables in the two leader and follower sectors only.
- Candies available for all guests at tables as well as in the restrooms –everything a milonguero needs;
- Traditional music (tandas y cortinas);
- Adherence to Milonga ‘Codigos’: INVITATION codes, BALLROOM codes, DANCE FLOOR codes, please, read ‘Codigos’.
Abrazo cordial respetuoso y cerrado, no dar pasos atras, no levantar demasiado los pies dal piso (Cachirulo, Bs As);
- Seats chosen individually, each day upon arrival at the milonga;
- Parquet;
- Air conditioning.
Subscriptions
- Form activates on the 31th MARCH, Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. > ENROLL
- Registration for couples and singles follower/leader.
- Leader/follower balance, odd single followers: max 10% of follower who are in couples (the couples registrated and the ones paired by the organization);
- Choose ‘leader/follower role’ on the registration form and don’t change role throughout the encuentro.
- Limited capacity (140 people);
- Subscribing is mandatory and has to be done individually;
- Clicking the ‘Participate’ button on Facebook is not valid as registration;
- Automatic form on this website (encuentro entry for subscribed members only);
- Newsletter n.1: After submission you’ll receive automatically the newsletter n.1, it means “your form was submitted successfully”;
- Newsletter n.2: Confirmation newsletter with IBAN and timing of payment / Waiting List;
- Newsletter n.3 final newsletter, you will rceived it when your payment will be in home banking. (refund and bonus CFR Regulations);
- Each participant undertakes to accept the following Regulations upon filling in the online registration form and giving his consent.
