Sur – encuentro milonguero in Catania 2023 September 21st-24th

Hi everyone, are you ready to come to SUR?

In September we will follow the long summer of Southern Italy and we will reach SICILY, land of enchantment, myths and beauty.  From Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th I’ll be waiting for you in SUR, don’t make any plans!

Catania will welcome us with its beauty and our Encuentro milonguero with its hugs.

The Event

Once again, we have chosen the venue of the event in a HISTORIC CENTRE, but this is somehow special: Catania lies at the foot of an active volcano, Etna. Here you can feel the energy of nature in your body and breathe it in the air.  

Thus we will enjoy days shrouded by a totally Sicilian and of course charming atmosphere for people loving the intensity of the ancient and noble Mediterranean beauty, made of culture, contrasts and traditions, bright colours, amazing perfumes, satisfying flavours.
The historic city, the volcano and the sea, historical lidos on the cliff or long sandy beaches for both dive and relax before the beginning of the milonga!

We will visit museums, markets and small shops of young artists and old artisans. We will be walking discovering monuments, squares, boulevards, alleys and gardens: the baroque of its historic centre in 2002 was declared World Heritage by UNESCO, along with the one of seven towns of Val di Noto (Caltagirone, Militello in Val di Catania, Modica, Noto, Palazzolo Acreide, Ragusa and Scicli). And again, (in the pictures below) Piazza Armerina, Siracusa e Taormina the pearl of the Mediterranean!

Encuentro

Our venue is hosted in a historical stately building recently restored, located in the Staircase of Via Alessi, Principe Hotel lies mounted like a jewel between Via Etnea and Via Crociferi: the Baroque heart of the historic centre of Catania.
In the Salone Michelangelo will take place all milongas, from La Bienvenida of Thursday to After Party of Sunday. The timing allows to dedicate ourselves to Tango and to visit the place and its surrounding areas.

Bar

A dedicated American bar (pay-as-you-go) also serves wines and prosecco, beer, soft drink, tea, coffee and herbal teas, shortbread, ring-shaped cake, savory pies and croissant ready to be stuffed, for your consummations by the glass and your snacks.

Food

We love friends and conviviality: extra ‘Pass Baile’, our program has also the convivial break, always with our friends, but this time gathered around a good table and with a good glass to catch our breath till the end of the milonga of the evening.

Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening (19:00-20:30, during the break between Milongas) we’ll have a buffet dinner at Warhol the ground-floor restaurant.
Sunday evening (19:00-20:30, during the break between Milonga and After Party) we’ll have a salty Happy Hour buffet, at Warhol the ground-floor restaurant.

However, the dessert is on us: during the evening milonga a dessert buffet to close the night with sweety!

If you’ll choose to share the good table with all of us, dinners/happy hour are booking directly by the encuentro registration form, where you can choose all you are interesting like extra ‘Pass Baile’. 

It’s NOT mandatory reserve dinners / happy hour to partecipate in SUR.

Partner Hotel

For people loving to feel more comfortable –extra Pass Baile- we propose the stay at the venue of the encuentro, Principe Hotel.
A design hotel will accommodate our nights and breakfast (hotel packs, extra ‘Pass Baile’) with very tiered prices despite the high level of the offer and of the facility.
 If you’ll choose to stay at Principe hotel, you’ll book your stay directly by the hotel website where you can choose the date you are interesting by the ‘booking code’ you’ll receive in the confirmation newsletter to participate to SUR (the number of rooms is limited)
It’s NOT mandatory to stay at Principe Hotel to partecipate in SUR.
